Working as a model in the figure drawing classes at the college provided Sheena with some income but, more importantly, gave her the ongoing support of an ‘art community’ where she could benefit from the professional advice and guidance of her past tutors and serve as a role model for current students.

In a short time, Sheena has garnered significant critical attention for her animated videos which focus on her subjective experiences of urban spaces, notably Bridgetown. Her work has been shown at the “Black Diaspora Visual Arts” exhibition in Barbados and at “Rockstone & Bootheel: Contemporary West Indian Art” at Real Art Ways in Harford, Connecticut. She has participated in artists’ residencies at Alice Yard in Trinidad and Greatmore Studios in Cape Town, South Africa. She has also been invited to show her work at the 2010 British Film Festival in London and is currently working towards her first solo exhibition.
