What is Nursing?

Nursing is a service to individuals, families and communities. It involves the assessment of health needs, the planning, implementation and evaluation of health care through the utilisation of an evidence based approach. Nursing care is based on the application of scientific principles and involves health promotion, diagnosis, restoration and rehabilitation.

The Barbados Community College invites you to apply for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in this exciting profession commencing in September 2015. Eligible candidates can either apply for the four year programme or the upgrade programme.

 

Four Year Programme

Eligible applicants applying for the four year programme must have a minimum of:

  • Five (5) passes inclusive of English Language and Biology at CSEC General Proficiency Level at Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes inclusive of English Language and Biology at GCE Ordinary Level at Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the above mentioned.
  • On completion of training, the individual will have acquired knowledge and developed skills and attitudes to function effectively as a competent professional Nurse and as a member of the health team.

 

Post Associate BSc Nursing Programme

Students who have previously completed the Associate Degree in Nursing or the equivalent and are Registered Nurse are invited to apply for the one year part-time upgrade programme.

 

Admission is on a competitive basis and qualified applicants may be invited to attend an interview.
