International Summer School – Normally runs between June/July every summer. It is hosted by BCCHI in collaboration with University College of Birmingham. It offers both diploma and certificate courses and caters to industry professional and persons interested in the Tourism/Hospitality Industry.
Local - Local internships are done in the second or fourth semester. These internships are done at food & beverage properties, tour operations and places of interest throughout the island. Internships span from 6-8 weeks.
International – International internships are usually hosted by Nantucket Island Resorts and Disney World. They span for 6-9 months and are equivalent to one semester credit. These Internships are only extended to students with good academic standing.
- NIFCA- Culinary Arts students participate in our National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA). Students are required to create innovative dishes for judging.
- Grand Rapids – Each year two students are selected through an internal culinary competition to represent BCCHI/Barbados at the Nation’s Cup Competition, Grand Rapid, Michigan
Theme Lunches / Evenings – As part of the curriculum students are exposed to a variety of international cuisines such as Italian, French, Asian, Caribbean and North American. This creates opportunity for students to be innovative in the implementation of international dining experience.
Gourmet Evenings – A seven course meal prepared and served by our students every Friday during the semester.
Green Globe Certified – The Hospitality Institute attained the Green Globe Certification in 2004 and is proud to say we have maintained this prestigious international certification since then. Green Globe 21 is the global bench-marking certification and improvement system for organisations within the Travel and Tourism Industry Worldwide. Green Globe 21 assists organisations in establishing standards which can aid them to operate in a sustainable manner.
