Programme Overview


This course is designed to equip artisans and small contractors with practical skills to deliver good quality work, improve on their service delivery to clients and on their overall effectiveness as operators of a small business.

Participants will be taught to utilize the Earned Value (EV) System for construction projects in order to efficiently and successfully operate their business for themselves and for all  stakeholders.

 

The course will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Homeowners who undertake small home improvements projects

 

Learning Outcomes

 

The course is designed to:

  • Provide training for artisans and small contractors to improve their functioning and make them more  effective as construction service providers.
  • Equip participants to use the Earned Value (EV) System for construction  projects.
  • Extend participants’ ability to perform building engineering tasks required of the contractor.
  • Manage negotiation and marketing for financially and otherwise successful construction projects.

Course Topics

 

The programme comprises of  six (6) modules:

  • Occupational Health & Safety –Administrative & Engineering Controls
  • Earned Value Fundamentals and Project  Controls
  • Tax Compliance & NIS Contributions
  • Project Costing and Negotiations
  • Interpretation of Drawing & Basic Engineering
  • Marketing

 

Start date: 23 September 2019
Class days: Mondays and Wednesdays
Duration: 50 hours
Cost: $700.00

Fees are payable at the Accounts Department between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and are non-refundable after the second week of commencement of courses.
