Cumberbatch Awarded Aubrey Collymore Scholarship

Romario CumberbatchMr Romario Cumberbatch is the latest recipient of the Aubrey Collymore Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to suitably qualified male students pursuing a first degree within the category of science at the University of the West Indies, a British University or an approved Commonwealth University. He started studies in September at the University of the West Indies - St. Augustine Campus. He graduated from the Barbados Community College (BCC) in 2017 with a credit in the Associate Degree in Agriculture.

 

Mr Cumberbatch plans to establish his own aquaponics business and later expand into the other fields of agriculture. He noted “I will also use this time to help inspire and help young upcoming agriculturalists and Agri-entrepreneurs become better equipped to handle the problems faced in modern day agriculture”. The field of agriculture is very diverse and allows students to be exposed to a vast array of career choices including becoming small or medium-sized farm owners, food scientists or agricultural engineers. Mr Cumberbatch stated “Agriculture is one of the healthful, most useful and most noble employments of a man”.

 

The Aubrey Collymore Scholarship is awarded annually.
