The Hospitality Institute of the Barbados Community College is one of the premier hospitality and tourism training institutions in the Caribbean Region.  It offers a wide suite of programs designed to prepare graduates for the hospitality and tourism sector by ensuring that its programming addresses sector employer needs and offers the highest professional standards of hospitality and tourism education.




  • To grow and develop the Institute by executing its strategic business plans.
  • To lead the faculty and staff in developing and implementing strategies that will position the Institute for the future.
  • To identify new opportunities for market-driven Hospitality and Tourism education programs, forecast which programs will be successful, and supervise the planning, development and launch of programs.
  • To lead the planning and budget development of the Institute given the needs, challenges and trends in Hospitality and Tourism education.
  • To drive change successfully at the Institute as it adapts to shifts in industry shifts.




  • A Post graduate degree in Hospitality and/or Tourism Management.
  • A Diploma or Degree in educational management or related discipline




  • A minimum of 10 years of extensive experience in higher education, preferably in academic management and leadership positions at a school of Hospitality and Tourism.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience that can foster faculty alignment with developments in the international hospitality industry and competency-based education.
  • Experience in academic programme planning, development and implementation.
