The Human Resources Officer at the Barbados Community College (BCC) will assist with and support the transformation of the human resource function, at the same time ensuring that the strategic objectives of the BCC are met. This is a generalist position based on the increasing need to provide professional support to all employees working at multiple locations in dynamic and diverse teaching and learning environments.


Main Responsibilities


  • You will assist with developing policies and procedures relating to employees of BCC consistent with best practice and labour legislation.
  • You will be responsible for supporting the recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development and employee wellness strategies and processes at the BCC.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring staff compensation and benefits and ensuring efficient and timely payroll administration.
  • You will maintain and manage the human resource information system (HRIS) to produce reports and provide quantitative information for various human resource metrics as well as create and develop new client products and services
  • You will be part of the team responsible for industrial relations management, providing support to the processes of collective bargaining, employee grievances and employee welfare.
  • You will plan and analyze training needs and deliver induction training in conjunction with the heads of departments/divisions.




As you will be joining a team that delivers a service to the organisation, you will also be required to possess:


  • Excellent literacy and communication skills
  • High level of organisational skills and the ability to understand detailed information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships with managers and employees at all levels
  • A proven track record of problem solving, identifying and resolving issues promptly.




  • A Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized University.
  • A Master Degree or Post graduate qualification in labour/industrial relations will be an asset.




  • At least five (5) years’ experience as a Human Resources practitioner
  • Sound working knowledge of Barbados Labour Legislation.
