BCC offers Bachelor Degrees in the following areas:  

 

BACHELOR OF FINE ARTSENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Major in Studio Art      

Students may major in Studio Art or Graphic Design.  This programme is normally open to applicants who have completed the Associate Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design or Visual Arts with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.75 or equivalent qualification. Applicants must submit a portfolio of a minimum of 6 pieces with their application.

Major in Graphic Design

Students may major in Studio Art or Graphic Design.  This programme is normally open to applicants who have completed the Associate Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design or Visual Arts with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.75 or equivalent qualification. Applicants must submit a portfolio of a minimum of 6 pieces with their application.

BACHELOR OF ARTSENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Arts and Entertainment Management  The minimum requirements for entry into the College are: 
  • Four (4) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Four (4) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

NB: English Language must be included in the four (4) passes.

Media and Journalism 

The four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Journalism is designed to develop multi-skilled media practitioners for smooth transition into today’s media industry. It will provide students with an in-depth understanding of journalism principles, practical skills and relevant techniques. 

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Five (5) passes at CXC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 OR
  • Five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C

 

NB: English Language must be included in the five (5) passes at Grade one.

 

Applicants must submit a 300-word essay outlining their interest in the field.  They will also be required to take a qualifying examination to test their:

 

  • Facility in Language
  • Knowledge of current affairs
  • Media awareness

 

BACHELOR OF EDUCATIONENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Technical/Vocational Training Students may major in Home Economics or Industrial Arts. Applicants are required to possess the Erdiston Teachers’ Certificate, an Associate Degree or equivalent in a related area.
Physical Education

Applicants are required to possess an Associate Degree in Applied Science - Physical Education (GPA 2.5 minimum).  

BACHELOR OF SCIENCEENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Tourism & Hospitality Management Offered jointly with University of the West Indies, this programme is normally open to applicants who have completed the Associate Degree programme in Culinary Arts, Hotel Catering & Institutional Operations, Tourism & Travel or Hospitality Studies with a minimum Grade Point Average 2.75 or equivalent.
Pharmacy

Full-time Programme

  • Applicants must have attained their 17th birthday by December 30 of the year of entry.
  • A minimum of five (5) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2 or 3 (June 1998 only) OR five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Pre health certification OR Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.  

N.B Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language are compulsory.

 

Applicants with the following qualifications may receive programme exemptions:

  • Associate Degree in Chemistry or Biology
  • Passes in Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) / GCE A’ level in Chemistry and Biology. 

Post Associate Degree Programme

  • Pharmacists holding a diploma/certificate/ associate degree in Pharmacy may be eligible to join the degree programme.
Nursing

Four Year Programme

Eligible applicants applying for the four year programme must have a minimum of:

  • Five (5) passes inclusive of English Language and Biology at CSEC General Proficiency Level at Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes inclusive of English Language and Biology at GCE Ordinary Level at Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the above mentioned.
  • On completion of training, the individual will have acquired knowledge and developed skills and attitudes to function effectively as a competent professional Nurse and as a member of the health team.

Post Associate BSc Nursing Programme

  • Students who have previously completed the Associate Degree in Nursing or the equivalent and are Registered Nurse are invited to apply for the one year part-time upgrade programme.
Clinical Laboratory Science

The minimum requirements for entry into the proramme are:

  • Five (5) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level Grade, 1, 2 or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • The Certificate in Pre-Health Sciences OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the above mentioned.

NB: English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Human or Social Biology and Chemistry are compulsory. Persons with higher level qualifications will also be considered.

 

All qualified applicants will be required to attend an interview. Applicants must have attained their 17th birthday by December 30th of the year of entry.
