The Give Back Programme enables eligible Barbadian students whose tuition is funded by the Government of Barbados to contribute voluntary service to approved schools, charities, community groups, public-sector agencies and other registered entities. Through service, students gain practical experience, build professional and interpersonal skills, expand their networks and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Who Must Participate
Students enrolled in eligible associate degree and bachelor's degree programmes at Barbados Community College are required to participate, including students pursuing Nursing and other health sciences programmes. There are no exemptions from the programme requirements. A student's full-time or part-time status is determined by the College's official enrolment record.
Required Service Hours
Students must complete the applicable number of Give Back hours for each academic year of study:

Important: Students should begin early and complete the required hours for each academic year before registering for the next year. Approved excess hours may be carried forward and applied to a subsequent academic year's requirement.
How to Participate
- Visit the official Give Back Programme platform and register or sign in using the student information requested.
- Confirm that the programme of study and enrolment details shown in the account are correct.
- Search the directory of approved entities or review the Special Opportunities section for available service placements.
- Contact the selected entity and agree on the duties, schedule, supervision and expected service period before beginning.
- Record service hours on the platform and submit them promptly for verification by the entity.
- Monitor the account regularly and follow up respectfully if submitted hours remain unverified. Verification may take approximately two to four weeks.
What Counts as Give Back Service
Service must be unpaid, voluntary, completed through an approved entity and properly supervised. Suitable activities may include:
- community outreach and youth development activities
- environmental and beautification projects
- administrative or event support
- peer mentoring and supervised academic support
- assistance with approved educational, cultural, sporting or social programmes
Internships, practicums, clinical placements and other compulsory components of a student's academic programme do not constitute voluntary Give Back service.
Student Responsibilities
- Treat Give Back as an important programme requirement and plan service hours throughout the academic year.
- Select only entities and opportunities approved on the official platform.
- Be punctual, professional and respectful, and comply with the entity's rules and safeguarding arrangements.
- Ensure that all hours entered are accurate and supported by the work completed.
- Do not wait until the end of the academic year to submit hours or resolve verification issues.
