The Quality Assurance and Enhancement Unit(QAEU) was established in September 2019 but the BCC has had a long history of engagement with quality and quality assurance as its graduates are recognised nationally, regionally and internationally for their substantial contribution in myriad fields of endeavour.
The mission of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Unit (QAEU) of the Barbados Community College is to continue that legacy in ensuring the highest quality of learning, teaching, curricula and administration within the College through the development, implementation and continuous improvement of quality assurance and quality enhancement processes. These will serve the College’s vision to be a world-class centre of excellence in education and training.
To facilitate its mission, the QAEU seeks to provide administrative and substantive leadership, guidance and support for quality assurance at all levels of the College and to support the institutional accreditation requirements. The QAEU is guided by the main principles of collaboration and partnership as it seeks to ensure that a sustainable quality culture is embedded within the institution.
Quality assurance and enhancement at the BCC will be developmental; designed to meet internal and external quality assurance requirements; ongoing and part of the College’s strategies for continuous improvement and excellence; practiced at all levels of the College and documented, monitored, reviewed and evaluated; designed to promote institutional and public confidence in the academic standards of the College; transparent, systematic and rigorous; focused on input, processes, outcomes and impact; supported and facilitated across the College.
