Overview

The Associate Degree in Economics exposes students to the economic environment in which they live.

It enables individuals to develop a better understanding of the economic issues, which affect them, and allows them to make informed decisions and judgements from economic scenarios and data. 

The economic cases used stimulate and sharpen the analytical skills of the students and develop critical thinkers capable of making forecasts to promote growth in the economy.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the College are: 

  • Four (4) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Four (4) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

 

NB: English Language must be included in the four (4) passes.

 

Mature Applicants

Persons 25 years or older who do not satisfy the above academic requirements may be admitted to the College as mature students. Such persons may be required to attend an interview to determine their eligibility for admission.

Paths

Candidates for this manor are generally drawn from secondary schools and persons already working.

Description of Courses

This programme is organized into four semesters and is covered over a period of two years. It comprises seven modules in economics with each module earning three credits pre-semester and a compulsory maths module.

*Students completing 3 majors may opt to exclude ECON103 Public Finance
