ELIGIBILITY AND FIELD OF STUDY

Open to nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to the Barbados Community College, pursuing a full-time Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Graphic Design.

AGE RANGE

Students between the ages of 18 and 25 shall be considered for the scholarship.

DURATION OF AWARD

The Scholarship shall be for a period of 2 years.

VALUE OF AWARD

The total value of the award shall be $5000.00, to be used in meeting the student’s maintenance costs, books, fees, and incidental expenses. It will be awarded in two parts - $2000 in the first year and $3000 in the second year.

TENURE

• The continuance of the scholarship shall be subject to reports of good conduct and satisfactory academic progress (at least a GPA of 3.00) to be submitted annually by the Barbados Community College. The scholarship may be withdrawn at the discretion of Gildan if the student fails to maintain the necessary standard.
• The annual amount will be disbursed by the Barbados Community College to the scholarship holder in two semester allotments. Gildan will also require the student to complete an internship of two (2) months after the second year of study and a minimum of two (2) months after the final year of study.

ADVERTISEMENT AND SELECTION

• The availability of the Scholarship shall be suitably advertised by the Barbados Community College
• The award of the Scholarship shall be based on academic merit and financial need
• The student shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00.
• Recipients are nominated by the programme Coordinator
• The Barbados Community College shall submit to Gildan for final selection of the candidates for the award, a short-list of three (3) candidates in order of priority.

FINANCIAL PROCEDURE

The company shall, no later than 01 August in each year of the duration of the Awards, make the requisite payment to the Barbados Community College
