Overview

The programme consists of two (2) years of full-time study. This includes course- work, examinations, projects and a four-week attachment to a business firm for full-time  students. The programme is offered every year. Students are prepared for careers in business related sectors, and for further studies.

Objectives

The programme is designed to:

  • Provide the students with basic business skills for personal use
  • Develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes which are necessary for productive work in business
  • Provide a foundation for students who may wish to further their studies in this field.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the College are:

  • Four (4) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Four (4) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

NB: English Language must be included in the four (4) passes.

Mature Applicants

Persons 25 years or older who do not satisfy the above academic requirements may be admitted to the College as mature students. Such persons may be required to attend an interview to determine their eligibility for admission.

COMP104

This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of a database management system (DBMS). Students will learn how to create a database, tables, forms, reports, labels and queries. They will also learn how to link tables and index records. Students will be exposed to relational database concepts such as relations, data validation, data integrity and normalization.
