Overview

This course acquaints students with the history of maritime subject matter in the media and introduces students to the journalistic style of writing for the maritime and shipping industry. In the course, students will be introduced to major global maritime news outlets such as World Maritime News, Marine Insight, Sea Trade Maritime News, Euro-Maritime News, The Maritime Executive, and Lloyd’s List. Students will assume various roles in maritime journalism from reporting to publishing. At the end of the course, students should be skilled and empowered to create maritime newsletters, magazines, commentaries, opinion pieces and features that enrich national and regional dialogue within the local and regional maritime industry.
