The goal of this two-year programme is to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to function effectively in today’s global marketplace. It is student-centred and caters to different learning styles. It is vocational and encompasses practical elements such as tour-guiding, assistance at conferences and liaison interpreting. Graduates of this programme go on to university or enter the workforce. Some have found work at the Bridgetown Port, hotels, travel agencies and other businesses where knowledge of a foreign language is a great asset.
The programme comprises three streams:- Language Structure/ Business Communication which focuses on developing written skills; Oral Communication to develop oral fluency; and Culture and Civilisation which focuses on developing reading and listening skills and on introducing the literature and culture of the target language countries. Students who enrol in this programme can study two or three of these languages - French, German, Italian and Spanish.
