The 2025 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme
The Embassy of Japan in Barbados is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2025 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme.
Aiming primarily to enhance internationalisation in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between the people of Japan and other countries, the programme invites Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) to be involved in English language education at local boards of education and elementary to high school levels in Japan. The programme has gained high acclaim domestically and overseas since its inception in 1987 and it is one of the world’s largest international exchange programmes.
In addition to being a responsible individual who is proficient in the English language, prospective ALTs must be Barbadian nationals in possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Completed applications must be hand-delivered to the Embassy of Japan by December 3, 2024. The application form and guidelines are available on the Embassy’s website at
