The Embassy of Japan in Barbados is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2027 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship from nationals of Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and St. Kitts and Nevis.

 

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan opens the window of opportunity annually to individuals who seek higher academic degrees as research students at universities in Japan. The selected candidate will receive the scholarship from April 2027 to March 2029 for the spring enrollment or October 2027 to March 2029 for the autumn enrollment.

 

This scholarship programme seeks to support individuals interested in pursuing a master’s degree, doctoral degree or professional graduate course. The successful research student will receive a monthly stipend, paid tuition and one return ticket. The scholarship may cover six months of intensive preparatory research and Japanese language training, if required by the university.

 

Applicants must be a national of Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica or St. Kitts and Nevis, born on or after April 2, 1992, possess at least a bachelor’s degree, and are motivated to pursue advanced studies in Japan.
