Despite being reduced to just one day, the 2025 edition of the Barbados Community College’s College Expo has been hailed as a massive success.

Co-coordinator Makeda Hart was happy with the outcome as 23 partner companies joined the College’s various academic and administrative divisions and departments on the playing field of the Eyrie Campus for the all-day affair.

Ms. Hart, who is also the Assistant Registrar for Examinations, said, “Overall, it is felt that the objective of College Expo 2025 was achieved. The attendance from the schools was excellent, and so far, feedback from some students who interacted with the BCC team members was positive. The expo was divided into a morning and evening session, but the majority of the schools opted to attend the morning session. Several VIPs (external sponsors, graduates, and valued partners) were invited to attend the opening ceremony and do an official walkthrough of the showcase. This aspect was a new addition to the event”.

This year, the Expo was held for only one day, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In 2023, the event was held over two days. Ms. Hart explained that the two days were arduous on students and staff, thus the change for 2025.  She added that live performances from the music and dance department were added to showcase students in the Fine Arts Department, while there was also an Art Gallery featuring the works of visual and graphic arts students. There were also demonstrations from several of the partner organizations, while the paramedic students executed a live simulation of an emergency, much to the delight of the large audience. 

The Expo is a marketing initiative to promote the College’s diverse course offerings. It is hoped that attendees gained a deeper insight into the Associate and Bachelor's Degree programs, entry requirements, course structures, and expectations, career paths and opportunities, options outside of sixth form, and life at BCC.
