The Counselling & Placement Centre of the Barbados Community College hosted its annual Summer Placement Seminar for 32 students who will be embarking on summer job attachments. The students will be placed in private and public sector organisations from June to August, 2024.
The Seminar entitled “Navigating the Working Environment” was held on May 23, 2024 at the Radisson Aquatica Resort. The presenters were Mr. Dwight Moseley, Attorney-at-Law, Consultant and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, who is also a graduate of the Barbados Community College and Mrs. Julie Turney, CEO of HR@Heart Consulting.
Mr. Moseley spoke to the student about the things to avoid when navigating the working environment, while giving real life examples. Mrs. Turney explored the journey of work from applying for the job to the first 30 days on the job.
The Barbados Community College ensures that students who are granted job placement are given training before taking up their placements.
