Portfolio 2021 is breaking new ground for the graduands BCC Music Program. On August 22nd, students delivered their much-anticipated portfolio performances virtually for the first time in the college’s history under the title “6 Beats Apart”. This came as a series of six YouTube videos which have been posted daily from August 22nd running down to August 27th. The COVID 19 pandemic has made it difficult to host portfolio as it would be done traditionally but that is not stopping this group of musicians from giving a performance that will not be soon forgotten. “In the past years portfolios were in person and for some of us this caused us to want to come to the program”, says keyboardist Tariq Iniss, “but now that it's virtual it can reach more [people] than we know.” Student producer Anthonio Howell stated, “It has been a challenge because we’re figuring out how to do something that no one before us has done, and in less-than-ideal conditions at that. However, it’s also incredibly exciting to be the ones blazing this trail in using modern media to showcase what the program has to offer. I count it an honor.” The portfolio videos can be viewed on the program’s YouTube channel “BCC Music Program” and on their Instagram page “@bccmusicprogramme”.
