The University College Christian Fellowship (UCCF) recently held a presentation ceremony to hand over the final portion of funds raised through their “Pathway to Peace” peace rally and fundraiser to the mother of a student who was impacted by a violent incident on campus in 2025.

The initiative was launched in response to the incident and aimed to promote peace not only on campus, but in Barbados, while also offering support to the student’s family. UCCF worked consistently to reach out to students, staff, and the wider community, organising sponsorship that helped gather the funds over time.

During the presentation, Whitney Brathwaite, the mother of the injured student, expressed her heartfelt gratitude. She spoke with appreciation, noting how meaningful the support had been during a very difficult period for her family. She also spoke of her faith and how it had been both tested and strengthened.

The event highlighted the impact of the peace rally and the way students and staff came together to respond with compassion and action.

Overall, the reinforced the importance of solidarity, care, and community support in times of difficulty.
