RECEPTIONIST/TELEPHONE OPERATOR
JOB TITLE: Receptionist/Telephone Operator
SALARY: Z38-Z30
REPORTS TO: Registrar
DIRECT REPORTS: N/A
CORE JOB ELEMENTS:
Summary of Core Functions
To operate the telephone switchboard and direct calls to all relevant members of staff.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operates the telephone switchboard to relay incoming calls;
2. Answer callers and transfer calls as required;
3. Supplies information to callers and record messages where necessary;
4. Relays messages to the staff on the intercom;
5. Reports malfunctioning of telephone system to the telephone company;
6. Carries out the following functions:
i. issue application forms and student literature to the public;
ii. answer queries of/or direct visitors if in a position to do so;
iii. Perform limited clerical duties.
7. Updates and maintain internal directory;
8. Searches for contact information for external organizations when required;
9. Assists with the application process- contacting applicants who experienced challenges withthe process etc.;
10. Updates student information in the Student Information System,
11. Contacts successful applicants;
12. Updates and maintains internal directory;
13. Works a shift system as well as scheduled daytime hours from Monday to Friday;
Performs any other reasonable duty that he/she may be called upon to do by the Principal, Registrar
or any other duly authorized person.

• Office/Indoor
• May be required to work outside of normal working hours

Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with members of staff, other government and non-governmental organizations and members of the public.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Four (4) subjects, including English at CSEC General One or Two;
KNOWLEDGE
• The mission and vision of the organization.
• The functions and duties of the post and how they contribute to the mission and vision.
• The Public Service Act CAP. 25.
• The Employment Rights Act (ERA) 2012-9.
• The Safety & Health at Work Act (SHAW) 2005-12.
• The BCC Staff Manual.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office suite applications.
• Good Time Management skills.
• Effective Interpersonal Relationship skills.
• Excellent Oral and written communication skills.
