ACCOUNTANT

 

 

 

JOB TITLE:                        Accountant

SALARY:                            Z16-8

REPORTS TO:                    Senior Accountant, Jean and Norma Holder Hospitality Institute & Hotel

DIRECT REPORTS:            Tutor I-Academic, Tutor I-Hotel Operations, Senior Storekeeper and Clerical Officers

         

           

CORE JOB ELEMENTS:

Summary of Core Functions

To implement the accounting procedures of the Institute.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the accounting functions in the absence of the Senior Accountant.

2. Responsible for performing the duties of Certifying Officer as per Financial Regulations.

3. Responsible for non-Government Accounts held on the Deposit Account.

4. Responsible for the maintenance of books in relation to the Institute’s Accounts.

5. Responsible for signing of cheques as authorized by the College Administration.

6. Responsible for Bank Reconciliations.

7. Responsible for Departmental Inventory.

8. Responsible for Stock of Cheque Books, Receipts Books, Local Purchase Orders, etc.

9. Responsible for any discrepancies in Financial Regulations.

10. Carries out such other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the Senior Accountant or any duly authorized person.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• May be required to work outside of normal working hours.
• Required to interact with varied range of individual and stakeholders.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with members of staff, other government and non-governmental organizations and members of the public.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Certified Accounting Qualification or three (3) years’ experience at the level of Assistant Accountant.
• Knowledge of Government and Hotel Accounting desirable..

KNOWLEDGE
