Background
Barbados Community College (BCC), a leading institution in higher education, is committed to leveraging innovative digital strategies to enhance its global visibility, student engagement, and institutional branding. As part of its strategic vision, BCC seeks to engage a qualified and forward-thinking individual or firm to manage its website and social media content, ensuring a dynamic and impactful online presence.
Objectives
The primary objectives of this engagement are:
- To establish BCC as a digital leader in the Caribbean’s higher education sector.
- To communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including prospective students, alumni, and industry partners.
- To promote BCC’s programs, initiatives, and achievements through innovative, data-driven, and user-centered content strategies.
Scope of Work
The selected candidate or firm will be responsible for the following:
- Website Content Management
- Regularly update and maintain the BCC official website with accurate, engaging, and up-to-date information.
- Ensure the website is user-friendly, responsive, and compliant with cutting-edge accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2).
- Create, edit, and publish web content, including news articles, event announcements, and program information.
- Leverage AI tools to optimize website content for maximum engagement and personalisation.
- Analyse data from user behavior to implement improvements and enhance user experience (UX).
- Monitor and report on website analytics, providing actionable insights to improve performance and user engagement.
- Social Media Management
- Manage BCC’s official social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X) with regular, high-quality posts and community engagement.
- Create and schedule multimedia content tailored to each platform, including announcements, event promotions, and educational materials.
- Utilise emerging platforms (e.g., Threads, TikTok) to engage with diverse audiences.
- Monitor social media channels for comments, questions, and concerns, responding promptly and professionally.
- Develop and implement creative campaigns to increase followers, engagement, and brand awareness.
- Collaborate with influencers and alumni to amplify BCC’s reach and storytelling efforts.
- Provide bi-weekly performance dashboards summarizing key metrics such as reach, engagement, and growth.
- Content Strategy and Planning
- Collaborate with BCC’s marketing and communication team to design a cutting-edge content strategy aligned with institutional goals.
- Plan and execute content calendars for website updates and social media posts.
- Tailor content to resonate with different audience segments, ensuring consistency in branding, messaging, and tone.
- Design and execute creative, data-driven campaigns that align with cultural trends and audience needs.
- Deliver quarterly reviews of content strategy, including recommendations for iterative improvement.
Deliverables
The selected candidate or firm will be expected to deliver:
- A regularly updated and well-maintained BCC website that meets global best practices.
- Engaging and informative social media content, including innovative campaigns and storytelling initiatives.
- Bi-weekly performance dashboards for website and social media analytics.
- A comprehensive content strategy and calendar, approved by BCC, with clear goals and timelines.
Terms
The contract will be for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and evolving needs. The contract will outline specific timelines for tasks and reporting.
Qualifications
Interested candidates or firms should possess the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in website content management and development.
- Proven expertise in social media management and strategy, including the use of analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Hootsuite).
- Familiarity with the education sector and/or higher education institutions.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in digital communication and education technology.
- Track record of implementing innovative strategies in web and social media management.

Selection Process
